One day we will all leave this Earth. We don’t know when. We just know it’s coming. It would be kind of morbid to focus on this reality. Yet it’s still there. Ever present as always.
But what I think more about is how people will remember me when I’m gone. Will they miss me? What will I be remembered for? How will my legacy be honored?
I was watching the Warriors-Celtics game last night when these thoughts began to go through my head. I watched Steph Curry go 11 for 19 from behind the three point line. He was shooting unconsciously.
And then it dawned on me. Steph Curry will go down as the greatest shooter of all time. Arguably a top 5 player of all time.
The impact Steph’s had on the game is undeniable. I mean think about how the 3-pointer is utilized now. The league requires big men to not only play inside, but be able to hit a 3 off a pick-and-pop. Whereas 15 years ago, being a solely on the block big man was acceptable.
This is all to say, Steph’s legacy is cemented. He has won championships and showed us what a great shooter looks like.
But as I sit here, I wonder what our legacy’s will be?
If you’re like me, you’ll use this as a wake up call to continue to chase after your dreams and be impactful in all that you do.
I would ask you to figure out what you’re “why” is. What makes you you? What do you think your purpose for being on this Earth is? Because once you find that out, life becomes more purposeful.
I heard a quote one time that really resonated with me.
We have two very important days in our life. The day we are born. And the day we find out why.
Let’s all try to find out the latter as soon as we can.
