Shoot Your Shot

I was scrolling through my Tik Tok notifications yesterday and I saw a particular comment that caught my eye.

It read, “Rejection is temporary, regret is forever.”

Now for context purposes, it was referencing a video I had made about dating and not being afraid of getting curved. It happens to the best of us. Like this guy here. Not sure what he hoped to gain from someone posting about an anniversary. But a valiant effort nonetheless.

Here’s my point: think of how many times in life you haven’t done something because of fear. Fear of rejection. Fear of failure. Sometimes, even fear of success.

Even me, there are times I have cool ideas for videos or businesses I want to start and it never goes further than that. For instance, I’ve always said I wanted to start a Tik Tok class for beginner’s to help people grow their accounts. I think I’d be really good at it. Plus the money would be great.

But as I sit here on my couch at 7:45 on a Sunday evening, I’m no closer to that goal than I was a month ago when I first thought about it. And if I’m being honest, it’s out of fear. I’m afraid that it won’t workout and I’ll look dumb doing it. Even writing it here today made me cringe a bit.

But then I think of that quote.

“Rejection is temporary, regret is forever.”

And it motivates me to start it. Mainly because I’d rather give it a shot and fail miserably than live with the “what-if” forever.

So whatever it is you are considering doing and haven’t yet, just do it. Nike knew what they were doing when they chose this mantra. It can be applied to all facets of life. Plus, we will never grow in life when we’re comfortable. It’s when we are uncomfortable that real growth happens.

So go ahead. Start that business. Ask them out. Make that video. Let’s fail trying than always wonder what could have been.
